Saevar Halldórsson

Saevar Halldorsson is an independent Creative Writer/Producer in New York. He was the Creative Director, and Director of Strategy for History™ where he was responsible for the overall look and feel of the History brand, and planning of all promotional campaigns. Halldorsson oversaw the production of on-air promotional campaigns, spots as well as show and promo graphics packages.

In his tenure at History, Halldorsson has overseen the strategy and execution of campaigns for some of the most successful programming in network history including its three single most watched programs ever, Hatfield’s & McCoy, Vikings, The Bible, other projects that Halldorsson has directed are 102 Minutes That Changed America, Life After People, and King, the Tom Brokaw hosted special on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Pawn Stars, American Restoration, Mountain Men, Counting Cars, Forged In Fire.

Halldorsson’s abilities and accomplishments are well recognized throughout the industry having been the recipient of a slew of awards and honors.  Halldorsson has won a 3 BDA North America & Gold Cup, 11 Telly Awards and a Cinema Advertising Council Top National Advertisement Awards.  

Throughout his career, Halldorsson’s distinct vision has provided unique brand identity to History and A&E Television Networks. He has written, directed and produced network “image” spots as well as short-form documentaries that can be seen on History.com. Prior to joining History, Halldorsson wrote and produced topical promos for ESPN’s National Hockey League Coverage. He began his career as a script reader and development assistant with Woods Entertainment, a Miramax company.

A native of Akranes, Iceland, Halldorsson received his formal training at New York City’s School of Visual Arts.
